What is the funding rate?
A periodic payment between longs and shorts that keeps perpetual futures close to spot. Positive funding: longs pay shorts. Negative funding: shorts pay longs.
Why does extreme funding matter?
It shows a crowded side. Very positive funding means many leveraged longs that can be flushed on a dip; very negative funding is the classic short-squeeze setup.
How often is the funding rate charged on Bybit?
Most Bybit USDT perpetuals settle every 8 hours, some every 4 or 1 hour. The rate shown is the current one for the next settlement.
